The Xtabi Experience
Xtabi Resort | Negril Hotel has been a principle of the West End experience for 45 years. Built above a fossilized cliffside, our waters sit amongst some of the area’s most beautiful reefs. A perfect snorkeling and swimming experience for everyone. We are centrally located near some of Negril’s favorite attractions such as Blue Hole, Boobie Cay Island, Benta and Mayfield Falls as well as Rick’s Cafe. WIth Xtabi’s own bar and restaurant on site, you can also feel free to submit to lazy days around the resort.
There’s more to do than just swim and sunbathe in the Negril Hotel area. Xtabi encourages you to enjoy all the things Jamaica has to offer including new fruits, restaurants, excursions, day trips and more.
“Xtabi, such a beautiful spot in all Negril Hotels! This would be such a perfect setting for the entire winter!”
Established in 1967, Xtabi was constructed over bush and limestone foliage. Our seafront cottages were designed with a roundhouse style of architecture to bring a unique aesthetic to the Xtabi stay. While ordained with hand-carved wooden columns and trimmings, our cottages are open and airy overlooking the cool blue waters. Sitting below the Xtabi cottages lie fossilized limestone caves which were originally carved out to host cave parties and can still be used to explore the beautiful cavernous spaces below. Down to the finest detail, Xtabi is a distinctive place built for travelers who crave more than an all-inclusive tourist experience. Come experience the real Negril.
7 Mile Beach
Negril is famous for its beautiful white sand beach that stretches on for an amazing 7 miles. The 7 Mile Beach is lined with bars, restaurants, glass bottom boats, parasailing, warm clear blue water and an exciting local life. If you’re getting the itch to dip your toes into the sand and have someone serve you a cocktail as you lay in the sun, the 7 Mile Beach is a quick 5 minute drive away from Xtabi.
Meeting Place of the Gods
Xtabi – Meeting Place of the Gods. The name is as exotic as the quaint cottages and octagon shaped bungalows spilling across the countryside and perched atop rocky terraces overlooking a turquoise sea. No highrise buildings, nothing taller then a palm tree. Swim in a tropical lagoon or sip a cool island drink while you watch a Negril sunset bursting in technicolor display. Later, dine in our spacious open-air seaside bar and restaurant. “The West End is the best end”. Tourism in Negril is not separate from Jamaican life; everyone is treated like family and the ambience is what you choose to make it.
Benta Falls is a must-see local treasure that is only a short 30 min ride away from Xtabi. You will be guided through the falls by adept chaperones who can explain the history and anatomy of the falls, including a point where three rivers meet! There are areas to swim, lagoons to jump into, a mineral mud massage and secret caves to explore under the falls.
One of the most magical excursions in the Negril area is Booby Cay Island just a few miles off of the 7 Mile Beach. The island is accessible by boat and most commonly available through the local glass bottom boats that line the beach. There’s a beautiful reef on the way to the island which is a great snorkel opportunity— sightings include a rainbow of different fish and wildlife as well as an ancient canon that sank to the bottom of the seafloor. It’s worth it to negotiate a full lobster lunch with the boat ride and snorkel trip because it’s the best lobster you’ll have on the island!
Of course it’s a pleasure to dine at our own Xtabi restaurant but when you’re looking for a change of pace there are plenty of other wonderful dining options in the area. Pushcart and 3 Dives Jerk Center are both less than a five minute walk from Xtabi. Catch a Falling Star, LTU, Kool Vybes, Ivan’s, Ricks Cafe, Canoe, and Patsy’s are all West End staples that you should definitely try and are no further than a five min car ride away from Xtabi.
One of Negril’s most recognized attractions is just 30 minutes away or less. The blue hole is a natural fresh water pool that sits deep into a cave. You can climb down a 25ft ladder to enter the water or if you’re daring enough, feel free to jump in! You’ll see locals, such as the well known Reggie, who will jump from the trees above reaching about a 35ft foot high fall. The water itself is 35ft feet deep and if you’re lucky you’ll be able to spot some fish swimming inside so bring your goggles.
